About RootDelight

What it is
RootDelight is a natural gardening education platform built for families, homeschoolers, and community gardeners. It offers three tiers of learning — from casual getting-started guides to deeper courses for people who want to understand the science behind why natural gardening works. Alongside the courses you’ll find deep research papers, easy reads, and activity guides, all free to download and share.
Why it was built
Living on a farm with a master gardener will do things to your curiosity. So will being a learning experience designer who can’t walk past an interesting subject without turning it into a curriculum. RootDelight started as a personal research project — a way to document what I was learning about natural gardening and make it accessible to people who don’t have 24 acres or a background in soil science. The more I learned, the more I understood that the backyard garden is a wildly underestimated lever for ecological change. That understanding became the platform.
How it was built
RootDelight was built through a deliberate multi-platform AI workflow: Gemini for deep research, Claude for editorial development and course structure, ChatGPT for brainstorming and refinement. When access to a professional authoring tool became cost-prohibitive, the courses were rebuilt from the ground up in collaboration with Claude — and the result is cleaner, more accessible, and easier to maintain than what came before.
What that process revealed about communication — with AI, with a subject, with an audience — feeds directly into the AI WISE framework. RootDelight isn’t just a gardening site. It’s also a demonstration of what intentional human-AI collaboration can produce.
